Hydrographic, Geophysical & Topographic Surveys and Geotechnical Investigations

Hydrographic Surveys:

Hydrographic or Bathymetry surveys are essentially required to chart/map the water bodies viz. Lakes, Reservoirs, Rivers, Sea/Ocean, Creeks, Coastal areas, Offshore areas, etc. The purpose of these surveys may be different for different organisations viz Navigations, Planning for projects, Floating solar plants, Bridges, Harbours, ports, Under water cabling/pipelines, Inland waterways, etc.  Hydrographic Surveys can be undertaken using Single beam or Multi beam echo sounders in association with various equipment like DGPS, Gyro, SVP, ATG, Levelling equipment, etc.

Geophysical Surveys:

Geophysical surveys are essentially required to chart/map the bottom & sub-bottom of water bodies viz. Lakes, Reservoirs, Rivers, Sea/Ocean, Creeks, Coastal areas, Offshore areas, etc. The purpose of Geophysical surveys is to map/chart the bottom/floor of water bodies for any underwater obstructions like sunken objects, rocks, undulation of bottom, out crops, submerged objects, etc. for planning and execution of any project in that particular area. Geophysical Surveys can be undertaken using Side Scan Sonar in association with various equipment like Single beam echo sounder, DGPS, Gyro, SVP, ATG, Levelling equipment, etc.

Topographic Surveys:

Topographic surveys are essentially required to chart/map the coastal areas of water bodies viz. Lakes, Reservoirs, Rivers, etc., while undertaking bathymetry surveys. It is also used extensively for roads, bridges, railway lines, town planning, utility mapping, etc. Geophysical Surveys can be undertaken using equipment like Total stations, RTK DGPS, etc.

Geotechnical Investigations:

Geotechnical Investigations are essentially required to study the engineering properties of soil, rock & water on land & in water bodies viz. Lakes, Reservoirs, Rivers, Sea/Ocean, Creeks, Coastal areas, Offshore areas, etc. The purpose of Geotechnical Investigations is to plan and construct roads, buildings, bridges, laying of railway lines, tunnels, laying of anchors & moorings, etc.
